The remoteness of our region, the lack of landing strips, and the limited availability of other emergency air ambulance helicopters was the motivation for HALO to begin planning and fundraising for the dream of having a dedicated air ambulance helicopter for the south-east corner of Alberta.
In July of 2007, the dream became a reality.
HALO is the only dedicated medevac helicopter for southern Alberta with the capability of serving southwest Saskatchewan.
The availability of the helicopter improves response time to critically ill or injured victims in remote or inaccessible areas and increases the coverage area for delivering qualitative medical care.
HALO is governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors who work tirelessly to keep HALO 'In Flight For Your Life'.
The board is supported by three paid positions; a Chief Executive Officer, an Executive Director, and a Financial Administrator.
Flight Operations are provided by our partner; Rangeland Helicopters Inc. led by Les Little.
Providing every person in HALO’s coverage area with an improved chance of survival by delivering compassionate, patient focused, safe and timely, advanced life support services.
Improved patient outcomes through efficient, collaborative and sustainably funded services for every person within HALO's coverage area.
