The remoteness of our region, the lack of landing strips, and the limited availability of other emergency air ambulance helicopters was the motivation for HALO to begin planning and fundraising for the dream of having a dedicated air ambulance helicopter for the south-east corner of Alberta.
In July of 2007, the dream became a reality.
HALO is the only dedicated medevac helicopter for southern Alberta with the capability of serving southwest Saskatchewan.
The availability of the helicopter improves response time to trauma victims in remote or inaccessible areas and increases the coverage area for delivering qualitative medical care.
HALO is run by a 12 member Volunteer Board of Directors who work tirelessly to keep HALO 'In Flight For Your Life'.
The board is supported by three paid positions. An Executive Director, A Funding Director, and an Administrative Assistant.
Our Pilot team is led by Rangeland Helicopter's Chief Pilot, Captain Steve Harmer.
